Just a Simple Story to Smile About

Yo, I am TIRED.
Help me out here, fam. Is it really just me?!
Maybe it's coming off the wild running of Halloween shenanigans, rapidly changing the channels and running away from every political ad during this midterm cycle, or perhaps it's that pesky time change (seriously, it's atrocious...I walk out at 5PM and swear it's midnight in an alternate dimension).
Whatever the case, I'm beat and we are keeping the big stories light this week (if you have been following for any length of time, you know we cover some heavy parenting topics and sometimes it's not all rainbows and unicorns...we could all use a break!).
I want to present a super cool story that recently resurfaced about Julia Roberts (again, not a celeb chaser here, but who didn't have Pretty Woman playing somewhere in their life?!).
Apparently, Roberts recently hit the big 5-5. As part of thinking about her birthday, someone tweeted about being reminded of a story of how, and more importantly who, once covered the hospital bill of the actress.
The story goes that Roberts' parents owned an Atlanta theater school. There was a particular couple that just so happened to be having a really hard time in finding a place for their own children to attend (due to various reasons, not the least being in the south during the 1960s).
Julia Robert's parents gladly accepted the children into their school and would eventually become close to the family. In fact, they became so close that when baby Julia was preparing to enter the world and the family learned that Julia's parents were unable to cover hospital expenses for her birth, they stepped in and paid the hospital bill for them.
Now, I know you are thinking, "well c'mon bro, tell me who this mystery family is!!!".
Well, the individuals that covered the cost for Julia Roberts' parents were none other than Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
How. Cool. Is. That.
I thought this was such a neat story and couldn't help but smile when I heard it.
It also reminded me that in a world where you can choose to be anything, choose to be kind. We need it now just as much as we ever have.
Now get out of here and go do something nice for someone!
Just for Giggles π
Twitter killing the funny game this week!
My 9yo son as I dropped him off at school, "time to make some money!" Apparently he's selling his Halloween candy to the kids who aren't allowed to have candy at home.

Hey, we love a good entrepreneurial mind, no matter what the age is! π
I wish my kids gave me the respect that they give their stuffed animals.

The stuffed animals in this particular house get the ROYAL treatment.
Bring on the yum! π
I see the leaves falling, cool air moving in, and is that what I think it is around the corner? Ah yes, finally Thanksgiving is within sight! Haven't started prepping yet? No worries! Let us help with some Thanksgiving app ideas this week.
When I hear appetizers, I immediately envision easy, pop-in-the-mouth type of recipes (especially if I'm doing the assembling of said recipes). So how about a couple of recipes that are just that? Throw these bad boys together in no time for a low stress, delicious appetizer!
How about a little bonus recipe this week? Pair these firecracker crackers with the cheese ball, and it will alllllll be devoured with no leftovers to take home (the OHV crew and fam LOVES these!)π
Deals, steals, and money-saving thrills π€
Money, money, moneyyyyyy πΈ
β First up, Target! Target is running a bomb deal of Buy 2 Get 1 Free on a selection of puzzles, games, activities, books and video games. Snatch up some gifts with this one! (P.S. If you haven't used your 25% Off One Toy or Book offer, it will stack with the Buy 2 Get 1 Free offer!)
β Carter's is currently running a 12 Days of Deals with a different sale every day. We've seen $6 holiday jammies, buy one get one free shoes, $8 denim and so much more. Keep on eye on these, you might score an awesome deal on just what you're looking for! π
β Walmart dropped their first installment of Black Friday deals online on Monday, 11/7 (we know ya'll didn't miss that though π). We'll be seeing new deals drop every Monday until the final event on Cyber Monday.
Say what?! π£
Random finds from across the web to satisfy your non-parenting knowledge thirst!
"Please Refrain From Licking?" The National Park Service put out a statement this week to not lick the Sonoran desert toad...excuse me what? Being one of the largest toads found in North American, it can grow up to 7 inches long and secretes a toxin..hence the warning. (We're not sure if we want to hear the back story for this one π)
28.5 Million Dollar Diamond! A rare pink diamond dubbed the "Fortune Pink" was auctioned off in Geneva at a whopping 28.5 million dollars (uh...wow) to a private Asian collector. The Fortune Pink comes in at 18.18 carats (uh..double wow) and is beautiful!
TikTok University Strikes Again. Do you love a good life hack as much as I do? I know you do so how about some home hacks?! I'm 100% doing the first hack in my fridge. Check it out here!
NASA caught the Sun "Saying Cheese". An awesome photo of the sun was taken that comically resembles a smiling chunky baby, but the real story is less fun. Apparently the dark spots are coronal holes indicative of solar winds...like the ones that can disruptcommunications on Earth. Let's just enjoy the pic and not read the science on this one!
Questions for the Crew! π

Would you rather have telekinesis (the ability to move things with your mind) or telepathy (the ability to read minds)?
Man, this is hard. Are we talking the ability to move ANYTHING and any size with my mind? Because that would be legit. If I am limited in "telekinetic strength", then I am 100% all in on telepathy. I read people all day...give me the ability to know what they are thinking and I believe I could change the world! π€-Z
Telepathy, for sure. I can move most things that I want with little difficulty (within reason) so I feel like that power would just be added convenience. Reading minds though is an absolute game changer and not something I could already do.ππ½ββοΈ-I
Hands down, telekinesis alllll day. I would much rather be able to move obstacles out of my way, fly something to my hand, etc. than read someone's mind. My mind is scary enough to be in, I don't want to deal with someone else's too π€£-J
How did we do?! π€
